Time makes its mark on the skin, leaving any number of damages, including pigmentation changes, uneven texture, and vascular lesions. We can safely and effectively treat these conditions with the Venus Versa IPL system. The IPL (intense pulsed light) is delivered into the skin where it is absorbed by the target we are treating to safely heat and cause destruction without damaging the surrounding skin.
What to expect during and after your IPL treatment
We can certainly clear away most if not all of these. You will need to have a recent skin cancer check with clearance from your Doctor before we treat any sun damage/epidermal pigmentation just to be on the safe side that there are no suspicious little spots. Our Melanocytes (cells that make the brown pigment) are always making and depositing more pigment to protect our tissues from UV damage so maintenance treatments may be required yearly. We get fantastic results clearing the redness and can keep on top of the capillaries too. These are particularly common on the cheeks and sides of the nostrils. These appear for a variety of reasons, and we will discuss your best course of action at your consultation.
Sorry no. For the best results for you we need your skin to be free from spray or rub on tanning products, this includes gradual moisturizing tan and no recent sun tanning, accidental or otherwise. Tanning changes the colour of your skin and can result in an adverse reaction from the treatment and a less effective treatment outcome for you. You will need to wear SPF daily (as you already should be) during your IPL treatments with us.
This is so important as some medications are photosensitizing, meaning they make your skin much more reactive and sensitive to light. If you are on or have been within the past 6 months any medication at all, please tell us so that we can be sure to provide you with the safest and best treatment.
Your initial patch testing gives us our treatment settings to start from, each skin requires a different treatment program, but we would expect to see great results from 2 to 3 treatments.
It can be a bit like a flick to the skin when the pulse is delivered. It’s so fast though. It’s often the bright light that patients don’t like more that the feeling. You have protective eyewear on but still see the brightness.
At Box Aesthetic we understand that clients can recognize the impact of aging and how this manifest on the skin, whether it’s textural changes, laxity of skin, dehydration, pigment changes, enlarged pores or dullness. But sometimes we don’t know what treatments are suitable to improve these conditions… That’s where unexperienced dermal therapists are here to help!
Booking the ‘Help me Decide’ or ‘Skin Treatment Consultation’ in our skin services gives you the option to discuss your concerns and we can provide you with a treatment plan tailored to suit your specific needs.
Not all skin treatments are suitable while pregnant. Although many of our skin treatments are non-invasive and pose no risk to the health of the mother and baby, we must be mindful using heat devices that can increase pigmentation and darkening of the skin during pregnancy. We advise booking in for a skin consultation with our experienced dermal therapist to discuss skin treatments and skincare options available in clinic so you can maintain your most vibrant healthy skin throughout your pregnancy.
We understand that sometimes knowing what treatments to book can be a little confusing. That’s why at Box Aesthetic we offer a ‘Help Me Decide’ booking option for both skin and cosmetic treatments. So, if you’re ever not sure what option to choose when making a booking, book a ‘Help Me Decide’ appointment and we’ll take the hard work out of it for you.
